​James Avery from Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Fame Dead at 65

According to a report from TMZ, James Avery, the man who played adored father, uncle, and judge Phillip Banks on the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air died at a Los Angeles hospital Tuesday evening.

Avery had recently undergone open heart surgery and died from complications from the procedure.

Fresh Prince co-star Alfonso Ribeiro confirmed the death on Twitter:
