Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee`s wife Joan dies at 93 years

The wife of Marvel Comics creator Stan Lee died Thursday in Los Angeles.
Joan Lee was 93 and had been married to Stan, 94, for 69 years.

'I can confirm the sad news that Joan Lee passed away this morning quietly and surrounded by her family,' a spokesperson said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.
The trade publication said Joan had suffered a stroke earlier in the week and had been hospitalized.
The former British hat model and the writer Lee were married on Dec. 5, 1947, following her divorce from her first husband.

They had two daughters, Joan 'J.C.' Celia, born in 1950, and Jan, who passed away three days after her birth in 1953.

Stan met Joan bu accident after being set up on a date with another model in New York.
When he arrived for the date, the door was opened by Joan, who had moved to the Big Apple from Britain after marrying a U.S. soldier during the Second World War.

'I took one look at her — and she was the girl I had been drawing all my life. And then I heard the English accent. And I’m a nut for English accents! She said, 'May I help you?' And I took a look at her, and I think I said something crazy like, 'I love you.' I don’t remember exactly. But anyway, I took her to lunch. I never met Betty, the other girl. I think I proposed to [Joan] at lunch,' he told THR.com in a story published a year ago to celebrate his 75 years in comics.
Stan credited his wife with inspiring him to persevere in comics and leading him to create The Fantastic Four in the 1950s.

That success led him to come up with some of the most iconic characters in the genre including The Hulk, Thor, Iron Man and Spider-Man.

That Marvel Comics universe is one of the hottest properties in Hollywood with Stan continuing to make cameos in each new big screen incarnation of his superheroes.

Joan, too, also had roles, playing herself in last year’s X-Men: Apocalypse. She also voiced Madame Web in a Spider-Man animated series from 1996 to 1998 and Miss Forbes in the 1994 animated Fantastic Four series.
Filmmaker Kevin Smith paid tribute to Joan in a touching Instagram post.
'He told us tales of heroes but Joan was Stan's personal superhero - and without her, we never get our modern mythology.'

'They say behind every great man is a great woman. In this case, the great woman was always standing right beside him. Joan and Stan were best friends for 70 years,' Smith wrote.

RIP..be strong Mr Stan
